Clutter Challenge for the Week of Oct 26th, 2009

Time to build your own Landing Pad...Well, at least find a place in your home that you can designate as a Landing Pad.
What is a Landing Pad? Well for aircraft it is quite obvious, but for us coming home from a day's shopping, work, errands or whatever...a Landing Pad is a DESIGNATED SPOT where you routinely place items that need safe keeping....keys, purse, books, jacket, shoes....etc....

Make it a habit to drop these items in the same spot every time you come in the door. That way they will be there when you get ready to leave. No more, "Has anyone seen my keys?"
Creating routines is essential to being organized.

  1. I have never been one to loose things. I am not sure how this happens to people. Don't you just stick everything in your purse and leave it by the door? Thats my landing pad. The door knob on the pantry right inside the front door is where I hang my purse every time I come in and miraculously I never loose things.

  2. You are doing great. As you add kiddos to your life your habits will serve you well.
How about books and college papers. Do you have a landing pad for those? Scriptures?
I'm trying to develop a routine for my reading glasses. So far I am not doing so well.

  3. We put a key ring by our front door and the keys always go there. The purse gets hung on the banister, and we put a table in that little nook by the top of the stair! Scott puts the mail, his cell phone, his pedometer, and other stuff on that! That is working for our landing pad so far!!

  4. My books are usually all over the house :)
I never loose them though. Scriptures are in the living room on the coffee table or on my night stand.
So I will find a place for my books/ backpack to go. We are moving soon so we will have a perfect closet right in the entry to put it!

Good Job keeping it organized, Melissa!

  5. Well you all know I have no landing pad. I am the most scattered key/cell phone/wallet person I
know. Switching between a purse and a back pack depending on the day doesn't help much, either. Nor does hauling C and T in the house from the car. I have too many details to be thinking about. I have a hook inside my front closet door that I try to remember to hang my keys on. Anyone have any suggestions?
